Definitions
Metropolis: a large, important city of a country or region, japan had 3 metropolises:
1. Edo: Japan's city of government
2. Kyoto: Japan's city for production

Osaka: Japan's city for trading Japan Popular Culture Japan is really cool and is located in a fire ring. -finding out new ideas and knowledge from the dutch Japan is a small island that has a huge mountainous region and was isolated for over 250 years. Japan is also part of the ring of fire.it has four main cities, its most populated and its capital is Tokyo. cities: Tokyo, Hokkaido, Honshu, and Kyushu. The popular culture in Japan drastically changed during isolation. As more artisans and merchants moved to the bigger towns, the merchant class grew and became more wealthy. They then began to desire more luxuries and more expensive items. This is how the different types of theatres came about.
Japan has a lagre diverse population. Many japanese people don't know English and have to attend special classes to learn it. Japanese language is written from top to bottom in a vertical line and has MANY alphabets. Kabuki Theatre
A type of play performed by nonhumans
Females couldn't perform. People belived that females corrupted the theatre.
Banraku Theatre
-Traditional puppet theatre
-No females could perform.
-the famous performers were treated like how movie stars are treated today.
Geishas
